Their activities involve project management, logistics, trip planning and communications.
With a unique array of experiences, skills, qualifications and sense of adventure they consider themselves well suited for this trip.
About John Kean
John is from Wimbledon but has lived and worked in the Egyptian Red Sea as a professional dive trainer and writer for thirteen years. He is the published author of the definative SS Thistlegorm book, writer and section editor of Sharm’s leading magazine MIX and a regular feature writer for UK diving magazines. John’s diving qualifications are extensive and he holds instructor ratings with four agencies including Master Instructor with PADI and Trimix Instructor with TDI. He works for the Sinai Blues Diving Centre at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sharm but also lectures, gives seminars at dive shows and escorted wreck trips in the Northern Red Sea for Sea Queen Fleet.

John rides KTM bikes in the Sinai and formerly ran a quad-biking business escorting riders through the desert. A medic first aid instructor, John has also attended to a variety of incidents and was caught between two bomb explosions in Sharm 2005. On a more cheery note!!... John has managed many of the Red Sea’s world record attempts in deep trimix diving such as the deepest wreck dive on Jolanda (men’s and women’s) and been a deep support diver for world free-diving events. He has travelled and dived around the world. (Thailand, South Africa, Bahamas, USA, Red Sea, Canaries and much of Europe).
About Yann Vautrin
Yann is from Brittany in France and has been riding motorcycles since he was 15. A former IT consultant and soldier, seeing action in Bosnia, he has spent the previous seven years in Sharm El Sheikh as scuba professional, largely catering for the French and British markets.
Yann also has extensive instructor ratings as a Technical Diving instructor PADI and CMAS Instructor. Yann’s land and underwater photography has been shown in dive book publications and several UK dive magazines, often supporting John’s articles and wreck features. The idea of the trip and the planned route is Yann’s.
Yann is a medic first aid instructor trainer and has been involved in extensive frontline conflict during his service in the armed forces. He has planned and conducted many bike trips around Egypt using KTM 990 and KTM 640 and he has recently been appointed as a consultant to KTM Egypt in Sharm. Yann has worked, dived and travelled in many countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Sweden, Holland and all of Europe).
